OLINALA TIE

A design inspired by the crafts of Olinala, Guerrero, where whimsical images of plants, flowers, animals and other figures are rendered onto gauges (a kind of pumpkin) or other wooden objects, using lacquer or "maque", a varnish technique used since pre-hispanic times, and combined during the Colonial period with the application of gold, hatching and oriental influences. Nowadays, Olinala lacquers are renowned worldwide for their beauty.
