Design Inspiration
COATLICUE
Design inspired by Coatlicue, the creative mother of the gods in Mexican mythology: mother of the sun, the moon and the stars. Of a female figure, she wears a snake skirt and has a large head formed by two snakes that when joined together create a face with a forked tongue and large fangs symbolizing duality and unity. The Coatlicue monolith, with an anthropomorphic body, unites numerous symbolisms of the Mexican worldview. It was carved approximately in the year 1506 for the celebration of the New Fire in order to transmit a message of spiritual power.
