Design Inspiration
COATLICUE
Design inspired by Coatlicue, the creator mother of the gods in Mexica mythology: mother of the sun, moon and stars. With a female figure, she wears a skirt of snakes and has a large head formed by two snakes that, when united, create a face with a forked tongue and large fangs, symbolizing duality and unity. The Coatlicue monolith, with an anthropomorphic body, unites numerous symbolisms of the Mexica worldview. It was carved approximately in the year 1506 for the celebration of the New Fire in order to convey a message of spiritual power.
