Design inspired by the paintings of amate paper, which is made from the bark of the Amatl tree. In pre-Hispanic times it was considered as a natural element with ties to the places where the gods dwelled and where the cardinal points were marked. The bark was made into paper to narrate everyday life in what are now known as the “codices”. This tradition has lingered on over the centuries, mostly in the state of Guerrero where the color-filled paintings are made with ancestral techniques and they show a variety of elements like very beautiful birds and flowers.
